Growth and Improvement (on the golf course)

HELLO SUMMER! This year, I am determined to make it a season of growth and improvement…on the golf course.

I've set a clear goal for myself: to enhance my golf game and work on lowering my handicap.

It's time to step up my game and dedicate myself to this sport that brings me so much joy.

To kick start this journey, I've decided to seek guidance from a professional. I've enrolled in golf lessons with a seasoned pro who can help me fine-tune my technique and provide valuable insights. I believe their expertise will be instrumental in helping take my game to the next level.

In addition to the lessons, I've been fortunate to connect with some scratch golfers who are kind enough to let me join them on the course. Playing with experienced players not only offers a chance to observe their strategies and techniques but also provides a healthy dose of friendly competition that pushes me. Play with better golfers, become a better golfer.

To further sharpen my skills, I've set up a practice mat at home. Most days I put for practice, honing my accuracy and touch. The repetition helps me build muscle memory and instills confidence in my putting abilities. It's a small space, but it allows me to focus on my stroke and find that rhythm that can make all the difference. Here's the game I play with myself.

“What is your % of accuracy out of 10 puts”

“Sink 5, 6 footers in a row before you sit down”

“Drain 1ft, 2ft, 3ft, 4ft, 5ft, and a 6fter in a row before you can eat”

Consistency is key, so I've committed to swinging my clubs multiple times a week. Whether it's at the driving range or my front yard, I'm making time for deliberate practice. I'm working on my drives, my iron shots, and my short game. Every swing is an opportunity to refine my technique and build that subconscious.

I've even decided to challenge myself even further by registering in four tournaments this year. These events will increase the pressure on my game. Navigating the competitive environment will test my focus and mental fortitude, allowing me to grow as a golfer. That heart rate that rises will be trained under pressure. Bring it on baby!

I can't help but feel a surge of excitement and nervousness. The anticipation of seeing progress and witnessing the fruits of my dedication fuels my motivation. I know there will be challenges along the way, but I'm ready to embrace them and learn from each experience. Truly “owning the wait”.

This summer, my golf game will be my focus, my sanctuary, and my playground. 😜

Go get you some of something you want! Get your mind dialed in and make a plan and write that shit down!

Yours,

Jillian
