Why good things take time

We live in a world that values instant gratification. We want things and we want them now. But is that always the best thing for us? No, sometimes the best things in life are worth waiting for.

Waiting teaches us patience. In our fast-paced world, patience is a virtue that is all too often forgotten. We want what we want and we want it now. But waiting for the things we really want teaches us to be patient people. It also humbles us and helps us truly enjoy the gifts we are given in this life as they come to us.

Patience is a quality that will serve us well in all areas of our lives. It's a quality that will make us better friends, better spouses, better parents, and better employees. It's a quality that will help us to deal with difficult situations and people. Learning to be patient by waiting for the best things in life is truly a gift.

During the wait, our character is being built. How? Because when we wait, we learn to persevere. We learn to push through even when things are tough and we don't see an end in sight (ps, God already sees the ending). There will be times when we face challenges and trials. But if we have developed perseverance by waiting for the best things in life, then we will be able to push through those tough times and come out stronger on the other side.

My favorite part about “the wait” is that it reminds us of who is really in control - God. When we trust God and his timing, it takes the pressure off of us and allows us to relax into his plan for our lives.

God knows what's best for us even when we don't. He sees the big picture even when we can only see what's right in front of us. So instead of getting anxious or frustrated when things don't happen according to our timeline, remember that God has a plan and his plans are always good.

Psalm 37:4 says, "Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart." When we take the time to focus on God and grow our relationship with Him, He promises to bless us with the desires of our hearts—in His timing. Just because we may not get what we want right away doesn't mean that God has forgotten about us or that He doesn't have good things in store for us. Trust that if you continue to delight yourself in Him, He will bless you in His perfect timing with good things that are even better than you could have ever imagined!

Yours,

Jillian
