YES!!! The kids are back in school!!!
After a summer filled with varied camp schedules, last-minute adjustments, and a lot of chaos…the idea of having a consistent schedule feels like a breath of fresh air. Reflecting on the past few months in the midst of all the craziness, I've learned valuable lessons about grace, communication, and prioritizing what truly matters.
The summer months really had us on our toes with those unpredictable camp timings, too many events, and something new every day. I must admit, it stirred up more than its fair share of stress. Amidst the chaos, it dawned on me that I can't control every twist and turn, and that's okay. Letting go of the need for perfection brought a sense of calm that I hadn't expected.
Something else that became crystal clear is that my husband isn't equipped with telepathic powers. What the heck, right?! At some point this summer I realized my communication skills needed a little work and I started being more forthcoming with my worries, thoughts, and even the occasional meltdown (oops!). This also started alleviating a lot of stress because we were able to get on the same page a lot faster. Even when we disagreed, we built clearer and clearer communication.
Now, I'm bracing myself for the whirlwind that lies ahead. With sports practices and games dotting our evenings this fall, I’m allowing myself space to let things get cray cray. But there are 3 things Jason and I decided to prioritize: family dinners, getting the boys to bed on time so we can have a couple of hours alone, and getting back into the groove with our weekly date nights.
I'm grateful for the lessons I learned this summer and how they prepared me for the season ahead. Funny how that happens when you let it, isn’t it?
Yours,
Jillian
